Who broke into Mr. Forsythe’s home, vandalised his living room and stole his laptop computer?
Who was most heavily involved in masterminding and orchestrating the crime?
In your opinion, which of these two students deserves the more serious consequence? Why?

RE: Suspect Interview: Ethan TurnerDec. 1, 2011
Cnst. Berkopp:
Ethan, Eva told me what happened. She told me you broke into Mr. Forsythe’s house to get Tucker to stop bullying you. And we found a purple fibre at the crime scene that matches one of your sweaters. It’s best now if you just tell me the truth.
Ethan Turner:
I’m not the only person who buys purple sweaters from The Gap. It could’ve been anyone.
Cnst. Berkopp:
If you insist you weren’t involved, perhaps you wouldn’t mind providing a sample of your DNA. That could help clear you.
Ethan Turner:
Um…no. I don’t think I want to.
Mrs. Turner:
You certainly will! If you’ve got nothing to hide, stop acting like you’re hiding something!
RE: Follow-up Interview: Eva EdwardsDec. 1, 2011
Cnst. Berkopp:
Eva, we know you’ve been friendly with Ethan Turner. We know about the bullying because of his purple sweaters. And we think he may have been involved in the break-in at Mr. Forsythe’s home. Can you tell us about a deal he may have had with Tucker Bryce?
Eva Edwards:
After he got suspended, Tucker was furious at Ethan, but he was even madder at Mr. Forsythe. So he told Ethan that if he’d broke into Mr. Forsythe’s house, trashed the place and stole something valuable, he’d stop the bullying. Ethan didn’t want to do – he really, really didn’t – but I just don’t think he could take any more of the bullying. He’d have done just about anything to make Tucker stop.
RE: Follow-up Interview: Tucker BryceDec. 1, 2011
Cnst. Berkopp:
I know, Tucker, that you’ve been sending messages from purple-is-for-pansies@hotmail.com. On Wednesday, you sent a message to Ethan Turner that suggested the two of you had made some sort of deal. What was your deal with Ethan?
Tucker Bryce:
Nuthin’, really. I told him I’d stop with the e-mails if he gave me twenty bucks. Done deal. Small price to pay if you ask me.

RE: Follow-up Interview: Ethan TurnerNov. 30, 2011
Constable Berkopp returned to the home of Ethan Turner to ask him about the Hotmail message sent from the stolen laptop.
Ethan Turner:
Yeah, I got the message. Don’t ask me what it means, though. I didn’t make any deals.
Cnst. Berkopp:
That’s a nice sweater, Ethan. Weren’t you wearing a purple sweater last time we chatted?
Mrs. Turner:
It’s all he ever wears. In fact, that’s why all the bullying started.
Ethan Turner:
C’mon, Mom. Don’t.
Cnst. Berkopp:
You were bullied because you always wear purple sweaters?
Ethan Turner:
Kind of. I guess.
Mrs. Turner:
Tell him the whole story, Ethan.
Ethan Turner:
Tucker was bullying me. Does it really matter why?
Cnst. Berkopp:
I have a feeling it matters a great deal, Ethan.
Ethan Turner:
Fine. One of the girls at school – Eva Edwards, in my math class – told me one day that she really likes my purple sweaters. So I took a picture of all my sweaters and posted it on Facebook for her to see. And when she posted a comment, the photo became visible to all her friends. Tucker and Doug and that Jo girl. Right after that, I started to get texts and e-mails almost constantly.
